Pet Corner Christmas Fairytale 2014

Henrietta Rat’s Cinderella
By: Isabella Ritona

Once Upon a Time….
There was a teenage rat named Henrietta. She wished she could be a human, but she knew it was impossible. Sad and dismayed, Henrietta wept and moaned until she was sure her mousescara had run (in the rats world, mascara was called mousescara and she wished she could have real mascara instead.) Henrietta sat upon her leaf bed reading her favorite called “Mouserella”. The story is about a maid mouse who falls in love with a dashing prince. (Mouserella is a rodent version of the human Cinderella) Henrietta also wished she could have a fairy-god mother like Mouserella. Then out of the random, a rat with wings too big for her body flew into the room. "Where had she come from?" Henrietta wondered with astonishment. "Are you my fairy-godmother?" Henrietta asked. '’Yes dear I am, and I can grant you one wish honey". "Gee thanks, now you come." Henrietta says rudely. (she was nothing like Mouserella if you haven't noticed.)"Well anyway, I want to be human." Henrietta announced proudly. And with a zap of the fairy-god mother's twig Henrietta turned human and nearly squished the fairy-god mother. Boy did Henrietta have fun. First she dined in a restaurant which apparently was above her hidey hole. She ordered salmon which smelled and tasted like the garbage her rat family ate out of the trash can, just the way she liked it. After that Henrietta went to the park and ran around. People stared a lot, but she didn't seem to care. Afterward she went to the beauty shop for mascara. She accidentally asked for mousescara instead of mascara and the sales clerk squinted her eyes and showed Henrietta mascara instead. Sadly at 12:00pm the fun ended and Henrietta turned into a rat again. When Henrietta got home she snuggled under her leaf blanket and realized something. Being a rat isn’t so bad. (She only thought this because she finally had mascara instead of mousescara which she hated)

And She Dreamed Happily Ever After………….

(Nothing like Mouserella’s happily ever after though)
